It has been a busy and productive several weeks in Pierre as we approach crossover day — the critical point of the legislative session when all bills must advance to the opposite chamber to remain under consideration.

Greetings from Pierre, Much of what we do in Pierre as legislators is to try to seek balance and fairness in our system for the people of South Dakota.

On Monday, February 16, 2026, after breakfast Grandma Dar did some exercises on the machines. She then had a whirlpool bath. She ate a hamburger, tater tots, and green beans for lunch and had some chocolate cake for dessert. She played BINGO in the afternoon and only won once!

Greetings to Wessington Springs Community.The 2025-26 school year is flying by. Just over 2 weeks ago the Wessington Springs Schools celebrated the 100th day of school. I am sure there are some students that know exactly how many days of school remaining.

On Monday, February 9, 2026, Grandma Dar had cocoa wheat, scrambled eggs, and chocolate milk for breakfast. She had PT in the morning. For lunch we had beef stroganoff and cooked carrots. She played BINGO in the afternoon. Becky stopped to visit after bus route.

South Dakota’s 101st Legislative Session, Week Four

Through last Friday, February 6, a total of 570 bills have been introduced, including 325 House bills and 245 Senate bills. By comparison, in 2025 through week 4, 269 House bills and 220 Senate bills had been introduced, for a total of 489 bills.

Hello fellow South Dakotans. As we approach the midpoint of this year’s session our bill load has picked up. We received some very good news that the sales tax numbers for December came in much higher than expected at 11.9%. This won’t solve all of our budget challenges, but it sure does help!

On Monday, February 2, 2026, Cindy was still in Wessington Springs and helped me put up some décor. She put up some family pictures on my wall. I had OT with Jayden and PT with Jen. For breakfast, I had cream of wheat and a muffin. I had a whirlpool bath.
