The Woonsocket-Wessington Springs-Sanborn Central Bucks picked up a homecoming victory Friday night, using a strong ground game and stingy defense to secure the win in rainy conditions.
“It is always great to get a win, but homecoming and in the rain made for a really fun game,” head coach Michael Schmitz said. “We had a lot of players really play well.”
The Bucks found success on the ground, led by Wesley Molnar, who carried the ball 18 times for 70 yards and scored four rushing touchdowns. Teagan Eggleston added 70 yards on three carries.
Quarterback Grason Finn completed 6 of 10 passes for 88 yards.
Schmitz credited all three phases of the game, noting the offense moved the ball on the ground, the defense kept the opponent out of the end zone and special teams helped the Bucks maintain favorable field position throughout the night.
Defensively, Carson Finn recorded five tackles, a sack and a fumble recovery. Rylie Kneen added five tackles and a fumble recovery.
“Back to work to get another one,” Schmitz said.
