On Monday, October 7, 2024, we traveled to Howard to run at the Howard Invite on the golf course there in the northeast part of town. It was “run”-derful fall weather to run in. The girls were first to step to the starting line for the varsity race. There wasn’t as much wind Monday as they have faced all season long. We raced well amongst some great competition.
Alexis Roesler led the Spartans as she moved through the 5K course in 22:25.23 to capture the 13th place medal as she crossed the finish line. Ella Kolousek ran 24:12.82. Masynn Mebius about a minute behind, running 25:12.42. Bailey Yost ran another consistent race, 26:38.28. Sam Welsch ran 18:16.49 to capture the 9th place medal at the finish line. Ranick Fjerstad ran 20:22.59.
On Thursday, we traveled to the Parkston golf course for the E/P Invite. The JV races were first off the start line. The third race was the girls’ varsity. Alexis Roesler captured the 12th place medal as she finished in 22:24.87. Masynn Mebius was 27th with her time of 25:24.09. Ella Kolousek was right behind her, running 25:56.07 for 30th place. Bailey Yost ran a season’s best, 26:29.69. Sam Welsch ran well in the top ten. He finished in 18:32.61 to earn the 8th place medal. Ranick Fjerstad ran 20:37.65. Shout out to Tierney Knipfer for volunteering her time along with exchange student, Selah, to work in the concession stand, with Mike, during the home volleyball game while we were out running. It is greatly appreciated.
This concludes our regular season, and we will head up to Gettysburg on Wednesday, October 16, 2024, to participate in the Region 4B cross-country meet. The top twenty runners from the girls and boy’s varsity races will advance to the state meet on Saturday, October 26, 2024, out at Hart Ranch outside of Rapid City.
