Spartans Remain Solid at Action Club Invitational

On Saturday morning, the Spartans headed west to Highmore, SD, to attend the Action Club Invitational XC meet. As we traveled, the winds also moved and shifted from the south to the northwest and a wind advisory was in effect for Highmore by the time the girls stepped to the start line. As the kids have run in strong winds all season, the Highmore golf course, provided a little more coverage from the strong, NW winds.

The girls had a clean start off the starting line and all four of them were off running well from the start. They had positioned themselves with a pack, trying to find strategy and coverage while running into the wind. Alexis Roesler crossed the finish line in 22:35.92 to capture the 16th place medal. Ella Kolousek and Masynn Mebius ran well together, finishing 35th and 37th respectively. Ella’s time was 25:04.85 and Masynn’s time was 25:16.38. Bailey Yost kept her sights on Masynn and ran well, finishing in 26:35.88, for 41st place.

The next race was the boys’ varsity. Sam and Ranick were ready, and both started off the line very strong. They held position within the pack they were in. Sam was just edged out at the finish line, but still ran 18:54.61 for a top ten finish, capturing the 10th place medal. Ranick also had a strong finish and clocked 20:46.32, to finish in 24th place.
