Play wrapped up Saturday for the 2022 Huron Holiday Classic, with seven games featuring boys teams from the Heartland region. Wessington Springs fell to Clark/Willow Lake in Huron at Huron Arena, 68-35 on Friday. Colby Flowers had 11 points off the bench for Wessington Springs.

Wessington Springs delighted a home crowd with a 66-49 victory against Faulkton during the season opener for both teams on Thursday, December 8. Wessington Springs led 30-13 straight away in the first quarter and continued with a 36-23 lead as they charged into the second half.

The Wessington Springs Spartans girls basketball team began their season this past Tuesday by visiting Wolsey-Wessington. The Spartans got off to a good start and led 8-5 early in the first quarter. However, Wolsey-Wessington got hot and went on a 16-4 run to end the quarter and take a 21-12 lead.

Qualifying for the National FCCLA Knowledge Bowl competition in Denver, Colorado was no easy task, but that didn’t stop Wessington Springs Senior FCCLA Knowledge Bowl team. In order to compete in Columbus, Ohio, the team first had to take an online test as a team a month before the competition.
