The Springs Country Club in Wessington Springs is hosting two tournaments this weekend, offering fun golf opportunities for the ladies and the dads. On Friday, June 17, the Springs Women’s Tournament features an 18-hole Masters two-woman scramble that tees off at 2 p.m.

Just days before heading to the South Dakota State B Boys and Girls Golf Tournaments in Rapid City on June 6-7, Head Golf Coach Regina Teveldal and state-qualifying golfers received a check for the Spartan golf program from the pair of Jacks Memorial Golf Tournament.

The golf tournament season is officially underway with the Annual Pair of Jacks Memorial Tournament drawing 20 teams to the course Sunday, May 29. The tournament was held in memory of Jack Ferguson and Jack Krueger and hosted by the Ferguson and Krueger families. The families said the tournament was held in celebration of two Wessington Springs men and their love for community, family, friends and golf.

On Thursday, May 26, 2022, the WSHS Spartans left for Sioux Falls to participate in the State Track and Field Meet, with the new three-day schedule. The first to compete for the Spartans was the Class B girls 3200m relay at 12:30 p.m.

On Friday, May 13, 2022, we traveled to Kimball to participate in the Lezlie Blasius Memorial meet. In girls discus, Haeleigh Mulder threw 67’ 5”, Avery Orth threw 65’ 7”, and Brooklyn Caffee threw 65’ 1”. In girls long jump, Masynn Mebius landed 12’ 1”. In shot put, Avery threw 34’ 2.

On Tuesday, May 3, 2022, the Spartans were able to load the bus and travel down to Burke, SD, for the Meet of Legends track & field meet. The weather was cool and damp as we arrived that morning. The clouds hung on and then finally broke allowing the sunshine to come through.
