“Bright Nights Small Town Lights” winners announced

Examples of excellence in exterior illumination were recognized this week as the Wessington Springs Area Chamber and Development (WSACD) announced the winners of its Bright Nights Small Town Lights holiday decorating contest.

WSACD board members Troy Duxbury, Darrell Deneke and Pat Fastnacht toured neighborhoods throughout Wessington Springs and the surrounding countryside on Saturday, Dec. 20, judging homes and businesses entered in the annual contest.

In Ward One, Marvin and Eileen Thomas took top honors for their synchronized light show set to music. Ward Two winner Ed and Lynelle Schroeder impressed judges with a display filled with classic Christmas nostalgia, while Joe and JoAnn Hettinger earned the Ward Three title for their festive presentation.

The rural category winner was Paul and Katie Jackson, whose countryside display stood out among entries beyond city limits. In the business category, Michelle Tong of Jerauld County Title Co. was selected for her holiday décor.

Each category winner will receive $100 in Chamber Bonus Bucks, redeemable at participating local businesses.
