After a year without the music due to the pandemic, a much-loved fundraising event headlined by dueling pianos drew hundreds of attendees to the Alpena Community Center February 5 as the Alpena Volunteer Fire Department presented “The Dueling Duo.”
“After not having the event last year, it was wonderful to have a great turnout. It really shows how well the community supports our fire department,” said Alpena Fire Chief Gerry Orth of the large attendance to the fire department’s biggest fundraiser of the year.
Firemen served up refreshments as attendees socialized and sang along to the all-request show. The Dueling Duo took in tips with the requests, returning a portion of their earnings to the fire department as a donation.
“The generosity shown to the fire department went well above and beyond the ticket price,” said Orth. “The outpouring of support is a true testament to the wonderful community we live in.”
