Called “Angels of Springs” by some and “beautification fairies” by others, the local women responsible for the tremendous recent clean up around Wessington Springs also go by the names Joyce Krueger and Terri Mebius.
For the past few months, the dynamic duo has pulled weeds growing out of sidewalks before daylight from one end of Dakota Avenue to the other and up and down Main Street in an effort to beautify the town and in their own words, “make it look like it’s not abandoned.”
Wessington Springs Mayor Brian Bergeleen said, “They are setting examples that we all should be following. They deserve to grow some wings after all the work they’ve done, that’s for certain.”
Members of the city beautification committee, they volunteer time and resources to not only clean up the thoroughfares of Springs but also add festive decor across town.
