From the Halls of WSHS: Artist’s Corner

From the halls of WSHS we bring a new project to Artist’s corner.

This project was completed last semester by Advanced Art Junior Jewel McGeough. Jewel wanted to paint a large mural in the school that would show school spirit. She began by drawing out the letters on a very large piece of paper and then transferring her drawing to the wall (at an angle that matched the stairway). Next, Jewel created a background that had both good contrast and a variation of eye-catching colors. All of this tied into the overall graffiti art style she wanted to portray. Then she mixed the colors needed and began to paint.

The large painting size and the fact that it was angled in the stairway of the school were just a few of the challenges that Jewel came across. But with hard work, patience, and a lot of out-of-class work time; she completed this wonderful painting!
