Dear Editor and True Dakotan readers,
It’s been awhile since I’ve seen many of you, so in case you don’t remember me, I’m Chase the newspaper cat. Since the True Dakotan had a fire in the building I used to live in, I've been living at Delia’s home. She has been taking very good care of me.
Occasionally she will bring me to the newly refurbished True Dakotan building to explore. I was able to come last week but I quickly became frustrated, unable to find all of my old stomping grounds.
What happened to my basement with the frogs I used to catch and show Kristi and Delia? What happened to my loft above the office with the bats I used to chase? My people may love this new building, but there aren’t any fun places to explore anymore! The best place to explore is the garage, but there are no bats, frogs or even mice.
The worst part about coming to the office is this dog named Lincoln. He thinks I want to play with him, but I will have nothing to do with that. He tries to follow me everywhere I go so I turn around and hiss at him all the time. How exhausting!
And where are my comforts of home? My cat bed and litter box? I’ve noticed that dog has food bowls, a bed and even toys laying around everywhere. Well, what about ME?
I’m hoping this letter will encourage some of my newspaper reader friends to tell the editor that I need to start coming back during the day so I can visit with anyone who happens to stop by. I’m not asking for much, just a few of the necessities and maybe throw in a bat or mouse to play with.
Sincerely,
Chase (with a little help from Delia)
