Homecoming king and queen candidates for Wessington Springs High School, Kerstynn Heim, Parker Graff, Logan Mohling, Tregen Jensen, Remie Roduner, Max Klein, Addyson Orth and Luke Larson stand in front of WSHS Monday morning after carrying out a longstanding tradition of whitewashing the streets by the schools and along Main Street on Sunday night. Travel South Dakota announced Tuesday, September 16, 2025 that Wessington Springs and Lead were selected as the inaugural participants in the Destination Development Program, a partnership with George Washington University Institute for Tourism Studies and Crosscurrent Collective. Wessington Springs to Celebrate Homecoming Week Sept. 22–26
Teagan Scheel showed the Champion Targhee Ewe to a 3rd place overall finish in the 4-H breeding ewe show.
Young cowboys and cowgirls took center stage at the first-ever Bad River Youth Rough Stock Rodeo in Wessington Springs on Sept. 6, drawing nearly 500 spectators and showcasing the next generation of rodeo talent. Tatyn Hins competed in the Bareback, Saddle Bronc and Bull riding events in the 6-8 age category.
