MEMORIAL DAY AREA PROGRAM SCHEDULE

Alpena – Owen Kunze American Legion Post 116 will have a Memorial Day Service with speaker, Irv Huber, Monday, May 26, 2025, in the Alpena Community Center at 4 p.m. assisted by the Wolsey Hershman-Gordon American Legion Post 59, with a freewill offering light lunch following the program.

Venture Communications Donates Locally to Weskota Manor Avera

Venture Communications recently announced the donation of $5,000 to each nursing home located within the cooperative’s territory. These donations are intended to assist with facility upgrades and help enhance the quality of life for residents.
As kids earn points throughout the year by reading books and testing on comprehension, their names are entered into a drawing. This year, five winners were drawn. Mason Bike Giveaway Rewards WS Elementary School Readers

Five lucky elementary school students were this year’s recipients of brand new bikes as part of an annual program hosted by Masons from the Yelduz James Valley Shrine Club.The program rewards kids’ achievements in the school’s accelerated reading program.

Wessington Springs High School graduates tossed their mortarboards high and far last week in celebration of the class of 2025’s commencement.Upholding True Dakotan tradition with each year’s WSHS graduating class, the newspaper asked the Class of 2025 where they wanted their cap-tossing photo taken.

Decisions made at the May 12, 2025 Wessington Springs Board of Education meeting signal a busy summer when it comes to construction projects in the Wessington Springs School District.Under the agenda item, “Facilities Discussion,” the board first discussed bids for the elementary school parking lot.
