The 2025 Soil Health School will take place Sept 3-5 at the Crossroads Hotel and Huron Event Center and the Dale Demonstration Farm near Huron, SD.
Teens put their farm safety knowledge to the test and compete in the South Dakota Farmers Union Farm (SDFU) Safety Quiz Bowl Championship at the State Fair August 30 during SDFU Day at the State Fair. The 2025 championships are held at 2 p.m. under the Freedom Stage. Cash prizes awarded to winning team. Families with young children in both the Wessington Springs and Wolsey-Wessington School Districts will have the opportunity next month to take part in developmental screenings designed to help track early milestones.
Petitions that sought to put Jerauld County’s recently approved ambulance opt-out to a public vote have been declared invalid, county officials announced at a special commission meeting held Friday, August 15. Shown left to right are State's Attorney Deach Koch, County Commissioner Shane Mentzer, Deputy Auditor Teresa Fonder, DeVonne Losing, County Commissioner Walt Hein. County Commissioners Fred Krohmer and Charlie Bergeleen participated in the meeting via teleconference.
