South Dakota Farmers Union is hosting “Forging Cooperatives” day camp for kids ages 6 - 12 years old on August 1 from 11 a.m. 3 p.m. Camp will be held at the Jerauld County 4-H Ag Building in Wessington Springs.

Two Local Youth Qualify for Junior High Rodeo National Team

Two Wessington Springs School District students, Wyatt Fagerhaug and Londyn Mikkelson, earned some hefty hardware during the South Dakota Junior High State Finals Rodeo, earning them a place on the nationals team.

A dedicated group of volunteers gathered last week for the annual Planting Festival and Blessing of the Garden at Shakespeare Garden and Anne Hathaway Cottage in Wessington Springs. This year, Pastor Cheri Van Gorp of Springs Methodist Church led the blessing and stayed to plant a flowerbed following the prayer. DELIA ATKINSON / TRUE DAKOTAN

Volunteers planted and tended to the many lush flowerbeds during the Shakespeare Garden Planting Festival. Many hands make light work and thankfully, a large crowd of volunteers arrived ready to work in the gardens.
