FROM THE HALLS OF WSHS: Artist’s Way

From the halls of WSHS, we bring two newly completed paintings created by sophomore Ryder Michalek and junior Marissa Dornbusch.

Ryder created this beautiful ocean scene (above right) with oil paint. He really focused on blending his colors for a very realistic appearance. He wanted his objects to have 3-dimensional form and an overall sense of depth in his painting.

Marissa created her giraffe (above left) painting with acrylic paint. She learned a new technique by using a palette knife to create a textured and abstractbackground. Then she used paint brushes to blend the giraffe colors and help the animal have a rounded shape.

Overall, both students spent many hours (both in and out of the classroom) on their projects. Their efforts paid off well! These paintings are hanging in the hallways of the high school for everyone to enjoy.
