Jean Scheel and family traveled with their copy of the True Dakotan to visit relatives and attend the Laufer family reunion earlier this summer in North Carolina.
“My mom hosted reunions in South Dakota for 10 years, then we began rotating reunion locations every two years. My first cousin who had moved to North Carolina wanted to host,” explained Scheel. “We’ve had reunions in South Dakota, Kentucky, D.C., Wisconsin and Washington state. In North Carolina we enjoyed renting cabins, exploring the rain forest, farmer’s market and visiting with one another.”
