WSHS Alumni Gather for 2025 All-School Reunion

More than 200 Wessington Springs High School (WSHS) alumni and former teachers returned home Sept. 27 for the 2025 All-School Reunion, held at the Ag Building with a noon luncheon.

The program began with the Pledge of Allegiance and a recognition of veterans from all branches of military service. A prayer was offered in memory of classmates, friends and teachers who have passed away.

Guests enjoyed a roast-beef meal catered by Sweet Grass. Members of the WSHS FFA and FCCLA chapters assisted with building setup, serving and cleanup. Organizers thanked the students as well as advisers Charlotte Mohling and Brady Duxbury for their help.

Entertainment was provided by Lennis Fagerhaug and Brian Bergeleen, whose performance included the song “My Home Town.” The program closed with alumni joining in to sing the WSHS school song, led by Rosey Jensen.

The earliest class represented at this year’s reunion was the Class of 1940, represented by Peg (Violet Pagel) Cosby Olson, age 103; the most recent was the Class of 1997, represented by Chanda Grohs.

Many attendees toured venues around town that were open for the day and commented on how good the high school looks.

Reunion organizers encouraged visitors to view the All-School Alumni flip chart displayed in the gradeschool lunchroom. The chart includes class photos and information dating back to the first graduates in 1911 and runs through the Class of 2025.

The WSHS Alumni Committee oversees the flip chart, maintains a complete collection of school yearbooks at the Jerauld County Pioneer Museum and awards two scholarships each year to graduating seniors. The committee organizes the All-School Reunion every five years.

Those interested in joining the committee for the next reunion in 2030 may contact committee member Judy Winegar at 605-539-1594.
