Lady Spartans Fall Short but Build Momentum for Next Year

This past week the Spartans postseason kicked off at home against the James Valley Christian Vikings. They swept the Vikings 3-0 and then faced off against the 2nd seeded Castlewood Warriors on the road.The Spartans came out on fire and took the first set 25-21.

The Wolsey-Wessington Warbirds closed out an impressive season after falling to No. 7 Harding County in the SoDak 16, 3–1, on Tuesday, Nov. 11, in Timber Lake. Set scores were 25-22, 17-25, 25-22, 25-21.

The Lady Spartans ended the regular season with a 13-16 record and entered postseason play against the 6-14 James Valley Christian Vikings. The Spartans and Vikings met twice during the regular season, with Wessington Springs sweeping both matches, winning 2-0 and 3-1 respectively.

Wolsey-Wessington runners Kendal Uttecht and Mya Flemming compete at the State Cross Country Meet held at Broadland Creek National Golf Course in Huron. Uttecht finished 12th overall with a time of 20:08.38, earning a state medal, while Flemming crossed the line in 57th place with a time of 22:34.

Warbirds Earn State Reserve Champion Title for Second Straight Year

For the second year in a row, the Wolsey-Wessington Competitive Cheer team brought home the state reserve champion title, capping off a season defined by hard work and precision.Head Coach Brandee Kelsey said the accomplishment reflects the team’s determination and growing skill level.

Bucks Junior High Football Wraps Up Season with Growth and Determination

The Woonsocket-Wessington Springs-Sanborn Central junior high Bucks closed out its 2025 season with a record of 2–5, capping off a year marked by determination, improvement, and teamwork.“Our boys really worked hard this year and improved as the season progressed,” said Coach Armando Rodriguez.
