On Tuesday, February 11, the Wessington Springs Spartans girls basketball team traveled to Platte to take on the Platte-Geddes Black Panthers. The Spartans started out slow and trailed 12-6 after one quarter of play. Platte-Geddes increased that lead to 14-6 with about 4 minutes to go in the half.

Packing plenty of spirit, the Sparklers filled the gym at Thursday’s home basketball games.

Packing plenty of spirit, the Sparklers filled the gym at Thursday’s home basketball games. The 20-student roster delighted the home crowd with cheers and dances during halftime of the varsity girls’ game.

On Tuesday, February 4, the Spartan girls traveled to Iroquois to take on Iroquiois/Lake Preston. It was a close game throughout and the Spartans were defeated by ILP by a score of 42-39.The first quarter was an offensive struggle for both teams and ILP led 7-6 at end of one quarter.

On Tuesday, January 28 the Wessington Springs Spartan girls basketball team hosted Andes Central/ Dakota Christian, who came in with a 10-3 record. ACDC came out strong and took an early lead and led 18-9 after one quarter of play.

The 2025 Wessington Springs High School Athletic Hall of Fame Inductees have been announced and will be recognized at the Spartan’s home doubleheader basketball game vs. Tripp/Delmont/ Armour, Saturday afternoon, February 8 in between the girls varsity and boys varsity games.
