On April 22, 2025, the Spartans traveled to Corsica to participate in the 12th annual Jaguar Invitational Track & Field Meet. Anna Arhart threw 34’4” in shot put to land in 2nd place and she threw 78’ 4” in discus.

Throughout the season youth turn in scores during match time frames. Those scores go up against the high scores from across the state. This is a great way to see how youth will stack up a state. In Match 1 in Compound With Sights & Release Mauer Jones placed 4th with a 150.17 in the junior division.

On Thursday, April 17, 2025, we left bright and early to travel down to Avon to participate in their track and field meet before the Easter Holiday. We got the meet in before any weather affected us too much.

Wessington Springs Elementary student Carlayna Waters took second place allaround with a score of 36.4 at last month’s state youth gymnastics competition.Among 16 girls in the nineyear- old flight competing in Xcel Gold, Waters won third place in vault with a score of 9.

On April 1, 2025, Mother Nature was not fooling around. Old Man Winter dumped inches of much needed moisture around Jerauld County and beyond, but luckily the first meet of the 2025 Track and Field Season was indoor at the DWU/Avera Sports and Wellness Complex.

Hartford’s Caralina and Chase Mebius, grandchildren of Mike and Terri Mebius of Wessington Springs, each took first place at the Elks Region 2 Finals last month in Rapid City.

Pony Hills youth were among the 1700 wrestlers who took the mat at the State AAU Youth Wrestling Tournament last weekend at the Monument in Rapid City — and four Wessington Springs Elementary School students emerged as state medal finishers.
