Junior High Spartans Take First in Big Slam Basketball Tournament

The Wessington Springs Junior High Basketball team brought home some hasty hardware over the weekend, winning first place in the Big Slam Basketball Tournament held in Iroquois on January 25, 2025.“It was pretty exciting,” said Coach Jeff Argo, in his third year of coaching the junior high Spartans.

The Wessington Springs Spartans girls basketball took 3rd place at the 281 conference tournament.On Monday, January 20th the Spartans took on the Sanborn Central/ Woonsocket Blackhawks in the semifinals of the tournament.

The Wessington Springs/Woonsocket/Wolsey-Wessington Warhawks won two of three in a home quadrangular last Thursday held in Wessington Springs. The Warhawks defeated Howard 42-32 and Warner/Northwestern 52-6. Kimball/White Lake/Platte-Geddes, however, came away with the win 67-11.
