After Exciting Season, WS Owls Fall to Larchwood at State

Heavy rains Saturday delayed the Wessington Springs Owls match up against the Larchwood Diamonds for just under an hour Saturday. As state baseball tournament action was finally underway for the Owls, the Iowa team scored six times in the first inning.

Tumbleweed Open Draws 58 Golfers to Springs Country Club

There were 58 total golfers at the Tumbleweed Open held at the Springs Country Club on July 31, 2023. Two mini tournaments were included in the westernthemed event: 14 teams in the 18-hole “Saddles” tournament and 15 teams in the 9-hole “Spurs” tournament.

Annual Weskota Foundation Walk & Run is this Saturday, August 5

The Annual Weskota Foundation Walk & Run for Wellness is set to take place August 5 at the Wessington Springs Fire Hall. Registration starts at 7 a.m. and the run starts at 7:30 a.m. Cost is $20 and includes a t-shirt. Following the 5K, the kids fun run for ages 3-10 starts at 8:30 a.m.

Larson Secures Fourth in Class B State Boys’ Tournament, Spartans Finish 8th in South Dakota

For the first time in nine years, Wessington Springs sent a qualifying boys golf team to state. The team, made up of Blake Larson, Brock Krueger, JD Thompson and Luke Larson, battled it out with 23 other teams from across the state and were able to secure 8th place with a score of 514.
