Dave and Sherry Bordewyk of Brookings celebrated their 35th anniversary in April with a trip to the Netherlands and France. Notable Paris stops included the Eiffel Tower, shown above, the “I Love You Wall,” the Louvre Museum and Luxembourg Garden.
“A motivation for our trip to Europe in April 2025 was my desire to learn more about my family’s ancestry in the Netherlands. It’s something I have thought about for quite some time. It came to fruition when Sherry and I spent two full days - April 8 and 9, 2025 - in the Netherlands exploring the roots of my Bordewijk and Mennink ancestors,” Bordewyk shared. “Our local tour guide - Jaap drove us around central and northwestern Netherlands and connected us with places and people as we learned about my family’s paternal and maternal lineages. Plus, we had some wonderful Dutch pastries and great coffee along the way.”
