In last week’s True Dakotan, readers learned about the completion of the new fence at Hope Cemetery and the preservation of the cemetery’s historic entrance.
In addition to those highlighted in that story, organizers emphasized that the project was made possible by the efforts of many community members who contributed at different stages of the work. Volunteers assisted with planning and handson labor, often working behind the scenes to help bring the project to completion.
Those involved say the finished fence stands as a reflection of the collective care the community holds for Hope Cemetery and its history, as well as the many individuals who stepped forward to help.
Community projects often involve dozens of contributors whose efforts may not always be visible, but each plays a role in bringing shared goals to life.
