From the halls of WSHS we bring a new project to this week’s Artist’s Corner.This project was recently completed by Advanced Art IV senior, Ashlyn Weber. She worked with oil paints on this project and wanted to create an “old-time but sophisticated” vibe to her painting.

Area Churches Celebrate the Reason for the Season with Youth Programs

The sacred story of the birth of Jesus Christ was the focus of the entertaining and moving Christmas programs held at area churches in December. Parents, grandparents, aunts and uncles filled the pews and were treated to youth programs that highlighted the true reason for the season.

Carrying on the decades-long Christmas tradition of decorating the lobby tree at American Bank & Trust in Wessington Springs, the fourth grade class spread holiday cheer as they dressed the tree with handmade ornaments made at school.

Makatoh Reconciliation and Healing Horse Ride to Make Overnight Stop in Springs

The Dakota 38 +2 Memorial Ride was started in 2008 by Jim Miller, a Lakota spiritual leader, to honor the Dakota lives lost in the Dakota War of 1862, 162 years ago.The ride commemorated 38 plus two men executed later in the war, also known as the Sioux Uprising.
