The 281 Conference Basketball Tournament concluded Thursday night at the Huron Arena, closing out a week of competitive playArea teams advanced to Monday’s semifinal round, setting the stage for championship and third-place matchups later in the week.

Wessington Springs Girls Finish Week 2-1

The Wessington Springs Spartans girls basketball team went 2-1 this past week.On Tuesday, January 6 the Spartans traveled to Faulkton to take on the 5-1 Faulkton Trojans. The game started as a defensive struggle. However the Spartans were able to hold a 9-4 after one quarter of play.

Warbirds Defeat James Valley, 54-41

The Wolsey-Wessington Warbirds boys basketball team earned a 54-41 victory over James Valley on Jan. 8.The Warbirds received balanced scoring throughout the lineup, led by Caleb Richmond with 19 points. Clay Kahler added 12 points, while Sawyer Nelson finished with 11 points.

The Wolsey-Wessington Warbirds boys basketball team put together a balanced scoring effort in a 58-44 loss to Flandreau on Jan. 10 at the Round Ball Classic.Caleb Richmond led Wolsey-Wessington with 16 points, Larz Tvedt added 13 points, , while Clay Kahre finished with nine points.
Luke Larson finished with five points during Thursday’s 64-27 victory over Sunshine Bible.

Spartans Cruise Past Sunshine Bible, 64-27

The Wessington Springs Spartans boys basketball team earned a decisive 64-27 victory over Sunshine Bible Academy, using balanced scoring and defensive pressure to pull away.Colby Flowers led all scorers with 20 points, shooting an efficient 10-of-12 from the field, while adding three steals.
