Legislative Session: Week 7

The Seventh week of the historic 100th Legislative Session in the great State of South Dakota is in the books, with two to go.We tackled cross over day where all bills need to be moved over to the other chamber. I honestly think we may have made a difference helping people this week.

I wrote my Cuppy’s Corner News Monday morning. Delia Atkinson got it later in the forenoon. It was a very cold day. I enjoyed the beef tips on noodles dinner and a cup of grapes from the Manor kitchen.Tuesday, I enjoyed the chicken dinner and carrot cake from the Manor kitchen. At 4 p.m.

Week 6 of the 100th Legislative Session was eventful and busy which is the norm for the Capitol. After 25 Legislative days, I want to reiterate what an absolute privilege it is to be a part of this process.

We are in the midst of the annual respiratory virus season which includes seasonal influenza as well as RSV and several lesser known viruses. 2025 is proving to be an especially bad “flu” year both in S.D. and nationwide. The number of reported influenza cases in S.D.

Advocating for Local News in Pierre and at Home

During the past five years serving on the South Dakota NewsMedia Association (SDNA) Board of Directors, I have had the opportunity to help advocate for local news and the public’s right to know at the state level every year during News Media Day at the South Dakota State Capitol.

South Dakota’s 100th Legislative Session, Week Five

Greetings District 20 residents, Today more than ever, our labor market favors workers with college degrees. This includes all degrees from S.D.’s technical colleges. The share of jobs available to people without a college degree fell from 63% in 1992 to 51% in 2021.
